#metkids

#metkids is a powerful online tool for exploring art through the millennia. Created by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, kids can explore the site in three different ways, promoting inquiry and discovery.

Using an interactive map of the museum that looks like something out of a Where's Waldo book, users can zoom in and out, click on yellow dots that lead to descriptions of various parts of the building and red dots which bring up pieces in the collection. The map is somehow at once two- and three-dimensional.

The Time Machine allows users to combine time periods, geographical locations, and concepts to discover works in the museum's collection that meet those criteria.

The extensive video collection can be searched by genre: Create (how-to videos), Q&A, videos Made By Kids, and by Celebrations, sparking creativity and conversation.
